Essentials of Marketing & Strategy

In this course students will develop an understanding of fundamental marketing and strategy frameworks and methodologies. Through short case studies covering a diverse range of businesses, students will enhance their ability to analyze, solve problems and make decisions about marketing and strategy from the perspective of top management.

In this interactive lecture students will learn:
– About the role of strategy and marketing in corporate management
– Processes for formulating a competitive business strategy from the perspective of top management
– Basic marketing concepts and how they can be applied to achieve strategic goals
– Frameworks and analytical methods through practical application to short cases
– How to think about theories and the qualitative aspects of corporate management

Critical Thinking

As the pace of change in the business world increases, there is a growing demand for business professionals with the capacity to analyze information and make appropriate decisions rapidly. Moreover, there is a growing need to communicate with diverse audiences, both inside and outside one’s organization. In this course, students will learn to perform critical evaluations with fewer preconceptions and identify new ways of solving problems.

On Days 1 and 2, students will learn the basic skills of thinking, while on Days 3 and 4, they will learn how to think when solving problems, before learning how to think when communicating on Days 5 and 6.

Critical thinking is a fundamental skill that enables every businessperson to carry out his or her work efficiently and effectively. Whether you feel your skills need an upgrade, or are looking to achieve more at work, this is a course that every businessperson should take, regardless of industry, area of responsibility, or age.
